In der US-Serie „Person Of Interest“ geht es um den Milliardär Finch (Michael Emerson), der den Ex-CIA-Mann Reese (Jim Caviezel) anheuert, um in einem privaten Feldzug das Verbrechen in New York City zu führen. Dabei hat Finch sein Geld als Prorammierer gemacht und bringt ein wichtiges Werkzeug mit in die Verbrechensbekämpfung: Ein Programm, dass aus den Daten, die eine Großstadt wie etwa New York sammelt, diejenigen Personen herausfiltern kann, die wahrscheinlich demnächst ein Verbrechen begehen. Reese auf der anderen Serie hat die CIA unter ungewöhnlichen Umständen verlassen, und gilt bei seinen alten Arbeitgebern als tot.
